Who is Park Jimin, Jimin of BTS?

Park Jimin, better known simply as Jimin, is BTS’s combination of elegance and chaos. On stage, he’s a powerhouse — graceful dancer, emotional vocalist, and magnetic performer. Off stage? He’s the sweet, caring “Mochi” who will comfort his members, tease them with his cheeky smile, and steal ARMY hearts without even trying.

Park Jimin was born on October 13, 1995, in Busan. Growing up with his younger brother, Jimin showed a passion for performance early on. He started training in dance at the Just Dance Academy, mastering styles like popping and locking.

He later enrolled at the Busan High School of Arts, specializing in contemporary dance. There, he quickly became one of the best students in his department, standing out for not only technical skill but also emotional expression — a signature of his performances today.

Encouraged by a teacher, Jimin auditioned for BigHit Entertainment in 2012. His audition combined singing with a contemporary dance routine, wowing the judges. Soon after, he transferred to the Korea Arts High School in Seoul, balancing academics with an intense trainee schedule.

Unlike other members, Jimin had only about one year of training — a very short time in K-pop standards. This made his debut uncertain until the very last moment. Determined to prove himself, Jimin worked harder than anyone, often practicing late into the night, sleeping in the studio, and repeating choreography until it was flawless.

He struggled most with singing at first, feeling insecure about his voice. But with relentless effort, he grew into one of BTS’s most emotional vocalists, known for his soaring high notes and heartfelt delivery.

Jimin leaned on his fellow members for support — especially RM and Jungkook, who encouraged him, and V, his same-aged best friend who shared the trainee struggles with him.

Jimin debuted with BTS on June 13, 2013, as the final member added to the lineup. From the beginning, he stood out for his captivating stage presence — his combination of delicate vocals, sharp dance skills, and emotional expression instantly caught fans’ attention.
