Who is ARMY?

If BTS is the heart, then ARMY is the pulse. BTS wouldn’t be BTS without us, and ARMY wouldn’t be ARMY without seven boys breaking the world every five minutes. So let’s set the record straight:

The Official Stuff

  • Name: ARMY (Adorable Representative MC for Youth) — yes, it sounds official because it is. The name was chosen on July 9, 2013, which makes it ARMY’s birthday. Write it in your calendars like it’s a national holiday (because it basically is).
  • Logo: ARMY’s logo matches BTS’s new one (since 2017) — two doors opening inward, symbolizing that ARMY and BTS meet each other in the middle. Cute, right?
  • Colors: Our official color is purple, thanks to Taehyung coining “I Purple You” back in 2016. Purple is the last color of the rainbow, and V told us it means trust, love, and loyalty. The world may have laughed at first, but now entire stadiums glow purple when BTS performs. Who’s laughing now?
  • Memberships: HYBE sells an official ARMY Membership every year through Weverse, complete with digital cards, early ticket access, and merch perks. But let’s be real — the majority of ARMYs are unofficial. Does that make them less ARMY? Nope. It just means some of us are broke, some of us joined too late, and some of us spend money on BTS albums instead.

How Many of Us Exist?

Here’s the thing: ARMY isn’t just big — it’s galaxy-sized. Official ARMY membership on Weverse has already passed 30 million people worldwide. Yes, that’s not a typo. A 30. Million. Imagine a stadium that big. Actually, don’t — the Earth itself is the only stadium that fits us.
And then there are the unofficial ARMYs, who didn’t buy the membership but love and support BTS all the same. That adds another 100 million fans (and counting). Put it all together, and you’ve got nearly a quarter of a billion people united under one purple flag.
At this point, ARMY isn’t a fandom — it’s a global population. If ARMY were a country, we’d be one of the biggest in the world. The only difference is, instead of fighting wars, we fight streaming battles and ticket queues. And honestly? We win those, too.

The Love (and the Hate)

Now here’s where it gets fun. ARMY is loved by BTS, respected by some, envied by others, and—let’s be honest—hated by plenty. Why? Because we’re powerful. We don’t just “support” BTS, we dominate charts, crash websites, flood timelines, and terrify scalpers.
Other fandoms sometimes call us annoying. And you know what? They’re right. We are annoyingly loud, annoyingly organized, annoyingly unstoppable. But you know what else? That’s exactly why BTS became the biggest group on Earth.
The world might roll its eyes at us, but when the dust settles, everyone knows one thing: ARMY gets things done.

Why We’re Proud to Be Annoying

ARMY has raised millions for charities under BTS’s name. We’ve planted forests, rebuilt communities, and paid for thousands of meals — all while streaming Butter on loop. We don’t just love BTS — we live their message.
We are soft. We are fierce. We are clowns when we misinterpret hints, detectives when BTS drops cryptic teasers, and historians when it comes to remembering their debut days.
And yes, we will spam “stream Jungkook” under every random tweet. Guilty as charged.

At the End of the Day…

ARMY is messy, loud, passionate, and sometimes too much. But we are also loyal, loving, creative, and unstoppable. BTS gave us music, healing, and hope — and we gave them the world in return.
So whether you’re official ARMY with your shiny membership card, or unofficial ARMY whose main contribution is crying at fancams at 2AM, you are part of this family.
Because ARMY isn’t just a fandom. It’s a phenomenon. It’s a movement. It’s proof that love, when shared by millions, can actually change the world.
And if anyone doesn’t like us? Too bad. We’re not going anywhere. 💜
